Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has joined the cast of the upcoming “Ghostbusters” reboot.
Sticking with the gender-reversal theme of the film, Hemsworth will play the receptionist, originally portrayed by Annie Potts. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon will form the Ghostbusters and Paul Feig has been tapped to direct. Ivan Reitman, the director of the original “Ghostbusters” is attached as a producer.
The news was announced by Feig on Twitter.
Currently, the film’s plot is being kept under wraps, but it is currently in pre-production with a release date of July 22, 2016, the same weekend as “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” and “Buds.”
