Impressions: Joe Burrow’s 2019 campaign was one for the ages. He possesses phenomenal accuracy with great ball placement. Deep ball success was on point, however, the lack of top tier arm strength was evident. His pocket movement and awareness was extraordinary. He was good off script, flashed good mobility and hit all areas of the field with great timing and anticipation. Burrow can throw from all different platforms and on the move.

Concerns with Burrow stem from this one huge year coming seemingly out of nowhere on a loaded team of NFL-caliber players. He needs to see what’s in front of him to process. He isn’t comfortable with turning his back to the defense, so they don’t run play action much — significantly reducing or eliminating his work under center and the amount of play action asked of him is one reason for the boost in play (things he will need to do at the next level). Burrow seems to have the weakest arm of the draft class, however, his accuracy can alleviate that. He is a half field thrower and rarely is able to dial it up and throw across the field to outside the opposite hash.

Overall, Burrow is an absolute gamer. He plays the game aggressively and tore up top-notch competition all season long during his historic year. If you are comfortable with the one-year success of Burrow, he is not only the hands down best quarterback in this class, he is the best player in this years draft and can have an exciting career ahead of him. He possesses Hall of Fame traits for the position. His success next level will hinge on his ability to learn to effectively play under center and run more play action looks.
